📦 Meet Oria
Oria came into our care in March 2026 after concerned community caregivers noticed that she was having difficulty moving around.
Although she was still able to walk, she often preferred to remain in a sitting position and moved with a noticeably stiff gait. Further veterinary assessment and radiographs revealed a chronic spinal condition affecting her lower back.
Despite this, Oria has remained bright, alert, and full of curiosity.
💛 Personality
Oria is an explorative and curious girl who likes to know what's happening around her.
She enjoys attention and absolutely loves being patted. Give her a few gentle strokes and you'll quickly see her sweet nature shine through.
Like many cats, she has her opinions when it comes to food and can be a little picky about what she eats. One thing she isn't picky about, however, is boxes — if there's a box nearby, chances are Oria has already claimed it.
🩺 Medical Notes
Radiographs showed spondylosis deformans of the lumbosacral joint, a degenerative condition of the spine where bony growths develop along the vertebrae. This can lead to stiffness and discomfort, particularly in the lower back region.
Current observations include:
- Ambulatory on all four limbs
- Stiff gait
- Generalised muscle tightness and stiffness from the lower back (paralumbar region) to the sacrum
- Sacroiliac (SI) joints are stiff
- Normal range of motion in her limbs without major restrictions
- Requires monitoring for mobility changes and comfort levels
Additional findings on intake included:
- Dental disease (approximately grade 3/4)
- Overgrown nails, including one nail that had grown into the paw pad and required treatment
- Mildly elevated liver enzyme (ALT) and glucose levels on bloodwork
🏠 What Oria Needs in a Foster Home
Oria would thrive in a calm and comfortable environment where she can move at her own pace.
Her ideal foster home can provide:
- Soft, comfortable resting areas
- Easy access to food, water, and litter trays
- Gentle encouragement to stay mobile
- Regular observation of her comfort and mobility
- Plenty of affection and attention
- A few boxes scattered around the house for her enjoyment
🌟 Why Foster Oria?
Oria may move a little more slowly than other cats, but she hasn't let that stop her from being interested in the world around her.
She's a sweet, affectionate cat who enjoys pats, loves exploring, and still gets excited about the simple things in life — especially a good cardboard box.
A foster home can give Oria the comfort, care, and stability she deserves while helping her continue to live happily despite her spinal condition.
A little stiff, a little picky, and a lot lovable — Oria is looking for a cosy foster home where she can enjoy life's comforts, one pat and one cardboard box at a time.💛📦🐾
