More about Miso
Miso came into the care of the SPCA in December 2025 after a kind feeder brought him in for urgent treatment. He was suffering from fluid accumulation in both his abdomen and chest cavity, a serious condition that required intensive veterinary care and close monitoring.
Thanks to the dedication of our veterinary and shelter teams, Miso made an incredible recovery and is now medically stable. Having overcome such a difficult chapter in his life, he is finally ready to begin searching for a loving family of his own.
Personality
Miso is a gentle, sensitive soul who prefers to take life at his own pace. Naturally shy, he needs time to feel comfortable around unfamiliar people and new surroundings. Rather than seeking attention immediately, Miso quietly observes from a safe distance while he learns that the world—and the people in it—can be kind.
Although he may not show his affectionate side straight away, every small step forward is a huge milestone for him. With patience, consistency, and gentle reassurance, Miso slowly begins to let his guard down, making the bond you build with him all the more meaningful.
Daily Life
Miso would thrive in a calm, quiet indoor home with a predictable routine and patient adopters who understand that trust cannot be rushed.
He enjoys having safe spaces where he can retreat when he feels overwhelmed and will benefit from a home that allows him to settle in at his own pace. As he becomes more confident, Miso continues to show his gentle personality and quiet curiosity.
For the right family, watching Miso blossom into a trusting companion will be an incredibly rewarding experience.
Behaviour
Comfort with handling: Responds best to gentle, patient handling and appreciates having his boundaries respected while he builds confidence.
Around strangers: Initially shy and cautious, but gradually warms up once he feels safe.
Progress: Miso has made a remarkable physical recovery and continues to gain confidence during his time at the shelter.
Medical History
Miso was rescued after developing fluid accumulation in his abdomen and chest cavity, which required intensive medical treatment and monitoring.
The fluid has since completely resolved, and he is now medically stable with no ongoing treatment required. Routine veterinary care and a calm, low-stress home environment will help support his long-term wellbeing.
Please note that our cats are not routinely tested for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) or FeLV (Feline Leukaemia Virus) unless there is a medical indication to do so.
Ideal Home
Miso is looking for a calm and patient indoor home with someone who understands that some cats simply need a little more time to feel safe.
He would thrive with adopters who are happy to let him settle at his own pace without expectations, allowing him to gradually build confidence and trust. Like all newly adopted cats, Miso should initially be provided with a quiet room equipped with food, water, a litter tray, comfortable bedding, and hiding places before slowly being introduced to the rest of the home.
Other Adoption Requirements
Home Safety: To ensure Miso's safety, adopters will be required to provide verification of their cat-proof meshing or window/grille measurements before the adoption can be finalised.
Cat Licensing: All adopters are required to complete the Responsible Pet Ownership e-learning course and license their cat at the point of adoption via:
https://go.gov.sg/petownershipcourse
Why Cat-Proof Meshing Matters
Cats are naturally curious and agile, but contrary to popular belief, they do not always land safely on their feet. Falls from windows or balconies can result in severe injuries or even be fatal. Installing secure cat-proof meshing or grilles on all windows, balconies, and other potential escape points is essential to keeping your cat safe.

Looking for His Forever Home
Some cats ask for your attention the moment you meet them. Miso asks for something much simpler—your patience.
He may not be the boldest cat in the room, but behind those cautious eyes is a gentle soul who has already overcome so much. All he needs now is someone willing to let him discover, in his own time, what it feels like to truly belong.
If you're looking for a companion whose trust is earned rather than given, Miso may just be the perfect cat for you. The day he chooses to curl up beside you or quietly ask for affection will be a moment you'll never forget.
After everything he has been through, Miso deserves a home where he will never have to wonder if he is safe again.
