More About Hillary

Hillary came into the care of the SPCA in March 2026 after a kind resident found him hiding near the end of a housing block with a deep wound on his left hind leg, severe enough that the underlying bone was visible. Following a veterinary assessment, Hillary was also diagnosed with a suspected pelvic fracture and a small wound on his right hind paw, likely the result of a traumatic incident.

Despite the difficult start, Hillary remained resilient throughout his recovery. He received pain relief, dedicated veterinary care, and was placed on strict cage rest for over two months to allow his injuries to heal naturally. Thanks to his determination and the care he received, Hillary has made an excellent recovery and is now ready to begin a new chapter with a family of his own.

Personality

Hillary is a sweet, gentle soul with a calm and quiet nature. While he may be a little reserved when meeting new people, he gradually reveals a deeply affectionate side once he feels safe and secure. He enjoys gentle attention and forms strong bonds with those who are willing to give him the time and patience he needs.

He is looking for a family who understands that trust takes time and who will allow him to settle in at his own pace. In return, Hillary will reward them with quiet companionship and unwavering affection.

Daily Life

Hillary would thrive in a calm indoor home with a predictable routine and a peaceful environment where he can feel safe. Once settled, he enjoys relaxing with his family and spending quiet moments together.

Although he has recovered remarkably well from his injuries, Hillary would benefit from a home that minimises unnecessary strain on his pelvis. Providing stable footing and discouraging jumps from high surfaces will help him remain comfortable for years to come.

Medical History

Hillary was rescued with a deep wound on his left hind leg, a suspected pelvic fracture, and a small wound on his right hind paw following a traumatic incident.

He was treated with pain relief, wound management, and over two months of strict cage rest, allowing his pelvic fracture to heal conservatively without surgery. Hillary has recovered well and is currently comfortable, active, and able to move around independently.

While his previous injuries do not affect his daily quality of life, adopters should take a few simple precautions to support his long-term joint health:

• Avoid allowing Hillary to jump from high or tall furniture.
• Provide non-slip flooring or mats in areas where possible to reduce the risk of slipping.
• Monitor for any changes in his walking, posture, or mobility, and seek veterinary advice should any abnormalities develop.

Please note that our cats are not routinely tested for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) or FeLV (Feline Leukaemia Virus) unless there is a medical indication to do so.

Ideal Home

Hillary is looking for a loving indoor home where he can enjoy a stable routine and settle into family life at his own pace. He would be best suited to adopters who appreciate a gentle, quieter companion and understand that some cats simply need a little extra time to build trust.

Like all newly adopted cats, Hillary should initially be provided with a quiet room equipped with food, water, a litter tray, comfortable bedding, and hiding places, allowing him to settle in before gradually exploring the rest of the home.
