About Fuyu

Name: Fuyu
Gender: Female
Breed: X- British Short Hair
Colour: Grey White
Age: 5.5 years (as of December 2025)

Fuyu is a sweet, gentle, and warm soul who came into our care in December 2025 after a kind member of the public noticed a lump near her eye.

During her veterinary assessment, small cysts were also observed in both ear canals. The lump near her eye was surgically removed and Fuyu recovered well, but it has since returned. Based on its appearance and behaviour, it is suspected to be related to a condition called ceruminous gland cystomatosis.

In simple terms, this is an uncommon and usually non-cancerous condition seen in cats, especially middle-aged to older ones. It causes small cysts to form, most commonly in the ear canals and sometimes around the face. These cysts are generally slow-growing, often stable, and do not usually spread or turn cancerous. In many cases, they don’t require treatment unless they start to grow, block the ear canal, or cause repeated infections.

At this stage, Fuyu’s condition requires close monitoring rather than immediate intervention. If there are changes — such as new growths appearing or existing ones increasing in size — further tests may be recommended to rule out more serious causes. Should the cysts ever cause discomfort or complications, treatment options are available and will be guided by our veterinarians.

Despite everything she has been through, Fuyu remains calm, affectionate, and trusting. She is a gentle presence who seeks comfort quietly and asks for very little — just warmth, safety, and kindness.

Fuyu deserves more than a kennel while she navigates this stage of her life. She is looking for a loving foster home where she can rest comfortably, be monitored closely, and receive the compassion she so deeply deserves. Veterinary guidance and support will be provided by SPCA.

If you are able to open your home and heart to Fuyu, you would be giving her something truly priceless — comfort, dignity, and love.
