Single and Mingle with Shelter Animals

We held our first matchmaking event to celebrate Valentine’s Day!

To celebrate the day of love, we partnered with Lunch Actually to hold our first-ever “Singles Mingle” event at our shelter! With the growing number of animal lovers in Singapore, our aim was to create a space to help these individuals build bonds, connect, and potentially find love.

The programme for the night included numerous educational and exciting hands-on activities that allowed for the participants’ animal-loving side to shine! We started off with an interactive session with our shelter puppies (how can we say no to those faces?). Some of the participants brought along their pets too. We’re happy to share that it led to many contented cuddles.

Sid the cat was all dressed up for our guests!

Participants also had the chance to go on a short tour of our SPCA shelter, where they met many of our animals up for adoption and learnt more about the SPCA’s work. It was also a chance for them to find their furever-four-legged-other-half!

The main activity of the night was getting creative and building a cardboard house for a few of our shelter cats. Everyone got to pick their favourite little feline according to their personalities and quirks before working together to create the best tiny house! It was heart-warming to see the houses being custom-made according to the cats’ medical needs.

Team representatives and their final cat houses!

Then everyone had a chance to get to know each other better. With prompt cards to help get conversations going, our participants got purrsonal! Based on the laughs we heard, we think it worked!

Of course, we ended the night with good food and drinks.

The SPCA would like to thank our wonderful participants for spending their Sunday night with us. We thank Lunch Actually for donating 100% of the proceeds from the evening to the SPCA. We are also happy to reveal that a few couples matched and we can’t wait to hear more about their happily furrever afters!
