Pickles is a sweet but shy Singapore Special who was brought to the shelter with his siblings as part of the TNRM program. Initially, the transition from roaming freely to shelter life was intimidating for him, but with consistent care, training, and socialization, Pickles has gradually become more comfortable with his caregivers. He loves playing with his doggy friends in the backyard and enjoys mealtimes, though he is still nervous about being approached or touched by humans. To help him feel safe, his meals were previously hand-fed, allowing him to associate human hands with positive experiences and begin building trust.

Pickles has shown great improvement in his leash training and is now able to go for walks, though everyday objects like cars, bicycles, and elevators can still be a source of fear. As a shy pup, Pickles requires time, patience, and space to feel comfortable around new people. His progress may not always be linear, and he may withdraw at times, even after a positive interaction. This is why consistency in training and socializing is essential for his growth. Pickles is best suited for a quiet home with experienced owners who are familiar with working with shy dogs and can offer him the time and space he needs to continue developing confidence. It would be ideal for Pickles to have another dog friend at home to provide companionship and support. With the right care and environment, Pickles will thrive and make a loyal, loving companion.
