About Lantern

Name: Lantern
Gender: Female
Breed: Local
Colour: Black
Age: 2.5 year old (as of Jul 2024)

Lantern is currently under foster and not at the SPCA.

Lantern came into our care after being involved in a traffic accident, arriving with severe wounds across her back. With medical treatment, time, and patience, her back injuries have fully healed — and this brave girl has shown incredible strength every step of the way.

During her recovery, we discovered a small wound on her head that looked healed on the surface, but hadn’t actually closed underneath. Although it wasn’t bothering her, there was necrotic tissue surrounding the area. To help her heal properly, our vets performed a skin flap procedure to close the defect. Further testing revealed that Lantern was battling MRSP, a resistant bacterial infection that required careful management.

Thanks to her fosterer’s dedication, Lantern is now doing extremely well. Her wound is steadily closing, her comfort has greatly improved, and her personality has blossomed. She has become bouncy, bright, and full of life — a true testament to her resilience.

Lantern is looking for a loving home that can continue providing gentle care, a safe indoor environment, and lots of affection. With the right support, she is ready to leave her past behind and enjoy a happy, healthy future.

If you’re looking for a sweet, courageous cat with a heart of gold, Lantern may be the perfect addition to your family.

To ensure their safety and welfare, interested parties are required to fully mesh their windows and house gate to prevent the likelihood of “high rise syndrome”. This happens when cats get gravely injured or lose their lives after a fall from height.
