About Bagel

Bagel came into our care in April 2026 after a kind member of the public found him unable to move properly and sought help for him.

When he arrived, Bagel was underweight, dehydrated, and experiencing significant discomfort in his hind legs. Veterinary examinations revealed severe, long-standing arthritis affecting both of his knee joints (stifles), with extensive joint thickening and changes associated with end-stage degenerative joint disease.

Despite his condition, Bagel has shown incredible resilience.

💛 Personality

Bagel is a sweet, gentle, and charming boy who quickly wins hearts.

He is very curious about his surroundings and loves to explore. While he may move differently from other cats, he remains interested in the world around him and enjoys investigating new sights, sounds, and smells.

There is a softness about him that makes it impossible not to root for him.

🩺 Medical Notes

Bagel has severe arthritis affecting both hind limbs.

He is able to walk on all four legs, but has significant inward rotation of his hind limbs due to chronic musculoskeletal changes. His joints are markedly thickened from years of wear and tear.

Current observations include:

  • Severe arthritis in both stifle joints
  • Able to ambulate independently
  • Mild sensitivity when his left knee is fully extended
  • Mild tension around the lower back region
  • Requires ongoing eye medication
  • Benefits from close monitoring of hydration status

🏠 What Bagel Needs in a Foster Home

Bagel would do best in a calm, loving environment where comfort is a priority.

His foster family should be able to provide:

  • Soft, supportive bedding
  • Easy access to food, water, and litter trays
  • Soft or easily mashable food
  • Daily eye drops as prescribed
  • Monitoring of hydration (including skin-tent checks if trained by the veterinary team)
  • Gentle handling and observation for signs of discomfort

Most importantly, Bagel needs a family willing to give him patience, kindness, and a cosy place to rest.

🌟 Why Foster Bagel?

Because behind the arthritis, the stiff joints, and the medical notes is a cat who still wants to explore, still wants affection, and still deserves comfort.

Bagel has already been through a lot. What he needs now is a soft bed, a gentle hand, and someone willing to show him that his best days aren't necessarily behind him.
