Pepper (Mini Schnauzer)

Pepper (Mini Schnauzer)

Date: 31 October 2020
Animal Type: Dog
Animal Name: Pepper
Gender: Male
Color: Salt and Pepper
Breed: Mini Schnauzer
Age: 9 years 1 month
Training: Yes. Basic obedience-trained, Toilet-trained, Basic commands.
Microchip: Yes (clinic: Animal Practice Pte Limited)
Sterilisation: Yes
Medical History: HDB Approved Miniature Schnauzer (roughly 9kg now, larger than the average mini schnauzer).
No major health issues, except for dental issues (we are willing to pay to correct teeth issues if rehoming is successful).
Otherwise actually a very healthy and hardy dog.
Personality: A very loving dog who likes physical contact.
However, very anxious (almost aggressive) with loud barks and charging when around his food, protective of his owners, and at home when visitors come.
Not good with young children. Tend to bark or nip when young children play with him, due to anxiety.
However, when in an external environment with strangers (and without food and owners), he does not show aggression as much.
He has gone through obedience and training, including boarding with dog trainers, but no strong improvement. He is able to respond to obedience commands (eat, sit, stay, down, paw, fetch) when he is not over-excited.
He is also toilet trained at home on the pee pad/pee tray – he will even give signs that he needs to go.
I believe that with proper training and attention he will be a very loving dog.
Not for first time dog owners or those with very young children. He will benefit from experienced dog owners who can dedicate time to his training, exercise and attention.
