Happy Endings

Here are some of the many successful adoptions we have had at the SPCA.

If you have adopted from us before and have a story to share with us, please email us at, along with a short write-up of your life with the new member of the family and photos to go with the story.

** One of our adopted pet cats Gandalf has played an important role in the life of Gina Ho and family. We thank her for sharing how Gandalf has helped her husband Edgar Lu cope better in his illness. It is another testament to the fact that pets are a wonderful comfort and good stress relievers. You may wish to read Mr Lu's blog here.

Magical Mousse

Mousse was adopted in February 2014 and we are very lucky to have this amazing and magical cat. He's so funny, very close to us, and we share love and smiles with him. It's a pleasure to have him in our flat. Every morning, he likes to nibble our feet and ask for food. We don't need an alarm clock now because we have Mousse. He's the perfect alarm!!

Also, I'm French and my husband is English. We share our "Franglish" language with Mousse.

We would like to say thank you to the SPCA, especially to all the volunteers who were so helpful and kind.

Marvelous Mocha

I spent my long holidays after my O Levels researching on how to take care of rabbits. That finally convinced my father that I was ready to commit to keeping a pet. Thus, in December last year (2013), I finally adopted Mocha, a Holland Lop from the SPCA.

During the first two weeks of her stay in her new home, Mocha was rather shy and would sit quietly in the corner of her cage. She would also suspiciously stare at me if I were to attempt to pet her.

Now that nearly three months have passed, Mocha has warmed up to my family and me. She will actively jump about when a family member returns home and nudge us affectionately when our attention isn't on her. She's also very sociable and enjoys getting attention from our relatives who come to visit.

Mocha's such a cute bundle of joy and I feel really blessed to have adopted her! Perhaps in a few months' time, I might adopt a cute companion for my Mocha so she has someone to play with when I'm not home. Thank you SPCA for this bubbly addition to the family!

Pretty Perry

Perry was adopted from the SPCA at 2.5 months old in 1999. She is 14 years old now. She adjusted well into our family within a night and bonded with me in a day. She is the best of best friends with my hamster. Unfortunately, my hamster passed away. I could see the sadness in Perry's eyes when she nudged him for the last time. I can't imagine my life without Perry! This clever rascal learns tricks in a snap too! Thank you so much, SPCA, for rescuing this pretty baby.
Please adopt, don't buy! Adopted pets are sweet, cuddly and clever too.

Joyful Jojo

I was surprised that Jojo, now renamed Saint Malo, should have taken to me so readily and quickly. At the beginning, he was incredibly shy and timid. He is still easily startled. However, he soon proved to be the sweetest and most affectionate cat I had ever known. He loves to bat crushed paper balls around and chase after ribbons. He would also gallop towards me when I come home. He has now colonised not only my bed, but also my heart.

Hello Heidi!

We adopted Heidi from the Pet Expo in 2014; we have never owned a hamster before.

We have always had animals in Australia, but were unable to keep cats or dogs in our condo in Singapore. Heidi was the perfect companion.

She is full of energy and personality and we are totally smitten with her.

She has been set up with a fence around her cage, so she can go in and out as she pleases. She loves her sand bath and it is very entertaining watching her bathe.

Her favourite treat is pumpkin seeds.
