THE WORKSHOP IS FULLY BOOKED!
Date: 8 April 2017, Saturday
Venue: SPCA, 50 Sungei Tengah Road, Singapore 699012
We love dogs and that's why we adopt a shelter dog - to give her the loving home she deserves. But love for your dog goes beyond a home - your dog needs training to help her navigate our world.
A little bit about dog training:
Dog training approaches have advanced over the years, based on evidence from scientific studies of dog behaviour, and the way we handle and train our dogs can impact their welfare and emotional well-being. No longer do we need to treat dogs as wolf-wannabes fighting to dominate us. Nor do we need to correct or intimidate dogs such that they "obey us, or else".
Dog guardians around the world have embraced a more humane, and evidence-based approach to dog handling and training - using force-free, low stress or fear-free techniques.
What will you learn?
SPCA Singapore is committed to improving the way dogs are trained, and supports the continuing education of its adopters so that they can use the latest knowledge to positively impact the welfare of their adopted dogs.
In this workshop, "Through The Dog's Eyes - What Makes a Family Dog", behavioral ecologist, certified professional dog trainer and certified separation anxiety specialist, Dr Kang Nee, will demystify dog training, explore the human pitfalls that derail a dog's learning process and share force-free training games that help build the relationship between you and your dog. Participants will get a feel of how enjoyable it can be to learn with their dog, without fear, without force, without pain, without exerting dominance.
Fee per participant:
- SPCA members & owners of dogs adopted from SPCA - $20
- Public - $25
Fee includes a goodie bag with exciting items.
Note: This is a human-only workshop.
