INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Passionate about animals and want to make a positive difference?

We have an ongoing internship program where you will get to work on various tasks and projects.  This is an excellent opportunity for undergraduates or fresh graduates to do something meaningful for the animals and at the same time strengthen your resume.

We offer our interns a basic meal and transport allowance.

 

 

Position title:    Accounts Intern    
Duration:           Minimum commitment of at least two months

Duties and responsibilities:  

  • Assist with the management of Fixed Asset register, locating and tagging of assets as well as the management of disposal records
  • Assist with the processing of collections, reconciliation of collections, updating of schedules, filing and accompanying the Accounts Officer to the bank
  • Assist with organisation of historical files and records
  • Assist with the updating and drafting of Standard Operating Procedures

 Profile: Required qualifications, skills and competencies:  

  • Qualified with or currently undertaking any accounting / finance course
  • Eye for details
  • Comfortable with numbers
  • Good command of English

Position title:    Education Intern   
Duration:           Minimum commitment of two months, with possibility of extension

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Planning education events, including youth leadership camp and treasure hunt
  • Designing posters, banners, and webpages for the promotion of events
  • Developing content for promotional materials for the aformentioned events
  • Assisting the Education Officer in talks, visits and events

Required qualifications, skills and competencies: 

  • Qualified with or currently undertaking Diploma/Degree in Education/Marketing/Communications fields
  • Excellent communication skills – written and spoken English – with the ability to connect with people of all ages
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and other design tools would be an advantage
  • Strong commitment to educate people on animal welfare and responsible pet ownership

Position title:   Marketing and Events Intern
Reports to:       Deputy Executive Director

Duration:          Minimum commitment of at least two months

Duties and responsibilities:  

  • Assist our Deputy Executive Director and Fundraising Officer with the development of fundraising  department including strategy, processes and structure.
  • Establish, maintain and expand fundraising and marketing database.
  • Interact with other departments for the flow of information required by the fundraising department.

Profile: Required qualifications, skills and competencies:  

  • Qualified with or currently undertaking Diploma/ Degree in Marketing and/or Communications
  • Passion for animal welfare.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact at all levels.

Position title:    Advocacy Intern    
Duration:           Minimum commitment of at least two months

The SPCA is seeking dynamic individuals who would like to contribute to Singapore’s animal welfare scene. You will get to be involved in various aspects of animal welfare work as an advocate making a difference for animals. The work is varied and will hone your skills in areas such as research, writing, critical thinking, project management and public relations. The internship will provide you a deeper understanding of the complexity of animal welfare issues and how it intersects with socio-economic, cultural, political and legal factors.

Duties and responsibilities:  

  • Researching animal welfare issues in Singapore and beyond
  • Analysing current problems and proposing workable solutions
  • Drafting position papers, proposals and letters advocating for change
  • Planning and executing a project to enact positive change for animals
  • Conducting research in the field

 Profile: Required qualifications, skills and competencies:  

  • Qualified with or currently undertaking any degree, having undertaken coursework with a focus on writing and research
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
  • Comfortable conducting fieldwork independently
  • A strong desire to make a difference in the lives of animals

Position title:    Communications Intern
Reports to:        Communications Officer

Duration:           Minimum commitment of at least two months

Duties and responsibilities:  

  • Support content creation for SPCA’s social media channels, newsletters, magazines, etc with the aim of increasing awareness about SPCA, raising funds and supporting cause marketing partnerships.
  • Draft press releases, fact sheets, appeal letters and other materials as directed.
  • Support SPCA in our outreach and internal events.
  • Track SPCA’s media coverage and seek opportunities with reporters.
  • Help with planning and execution of logistics during media visits.

Profile: Required qualifications, skills and competencies:

  • Qualified with or currently undertaking Diploma/ Degree in Marketing and/or Communications
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
  • “Can Do” attitude
  • Passionate about animal welfare
  • Strong belief in our values of promoting kindness and preventing cruelty to animals through educationadvocacy and action.
  • Experience in organising events will be an advantage

Position title:     Animal Shelter Intern
Reports to:         Shelter Manager

Duration:             Minimum commitment of at least two months

 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist with animal rescue when required.
  • Research and implement novel ways to provide enrichment for shelter animals.
  • Research and implement strategies to increase adoption rates.
  • Assist with improving general shelter operations.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of new projects related to our animal welfare services.
  • Maintain records, answer general enquiries concerning adoption, fostering, lost and found. 

 Profile: Required qualifications, skills and competencies:  

  • Qualified with or currently undertaking tertiary studies in any field.
  • Passion for animal welfare 
  • Strong belief in our values of promoting kindness and preventing cruelty to animals through education, advocacy and action.
  • Ability to work flexible hours on evenings and/or weekends as required. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and the use of social media.
