DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is looking for a talented, strategic and dynamic individual to join our organisation’s senior leadership team.

As the Deputy Executive Director, you will play a key role in the strategic development, planning and implementation of key programmes and services. You will oversee SPCA’s education and outreach efforts, public relations, fundraising and stakeholder engagement and management, taking a hands-on approach when required. You will inspire and empower dedicated teams to achieve all targets set and to provide critical support for our animal protection work.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development, planning and delivery of various impactful programmes and services, developing and managing budgets, with an outcome focused approach
  • Assist the executive director in ensuring day to day operations run smoothly
  • Motivate staff to perform at their best and to consistently achieve targets
  • Enhance outreach and education efforts to deliver key animal welfare messages to a broad based audience
  • Oversee and develop SPCA’s communication platforms, and publicity and branding efforts, and actively enhance message delivery
  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to grow the organisation’s income, and develop and build positive relationships with individual donors and corporates
  • Increase revenue for the organisation through various channels
  • Oversee volunteer management and actively grow and develop the volunteer base
  • Develop a positive working environment and contribute to a strong learning culture

Requirements

  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Degree in any discipline
  • At least five years of management experience, including managing operations
  • Proven track record in leading teams to meet and exceed targets
  • Strong planning, analytical and decision making abilities
  • Be able to take a hands-on approach to managing departments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess multidisciplinary project skills and able to work under the pressure of various concurrent priorities, be meticulous and meet deadlines consistently
  • Mature and personable with excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders including board members, staff, volunteers, donors and external community partners

FIELD OFFICER (TNRM)

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is looking for a dynamic and committed individual to join our team as Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage (TNRM) Field Officer.

As a Field Officer, you will be part of an operations team managing a large scale dog sterilisation project, promoting high standards of animal welfare and providing excellent service to our clients. You will be well placed to make a difference for the animals by working on an impactful humane population management project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that high standards of animal welfare are maintained for all animals in the project
  • Managing dog trapping operations on the ground, ensuring trapping targets are met consistently
  • Conducting field surveys and collecting data
  • Mediating human-animal conflict cases
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Animal handling experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Class 3 driving license, with at least two years driving experience
  • Able to work shifts, including weekends
  • Mature and personable with strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively

CLINIC ADMIN OFFICER

We are looking for a highly independent and dynamic individual for the post of Clinic Administrative Officer. The job requires you to be in regular contact with members of public and community feeders and you will need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively. You will also need to be able to multi-task and be meticulous in your work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the clinic filing system/s and assist in the periodic stocktaking of clinic drugs and medical supplies
  • Assist with the answering of the clinic telephone calls, booking of appointments and dealing with the members of the public who bring animals to the clinic.
  • Responsible for the issuing and distributing of the sterilisation vouchers each month, maintaining data records for the Sterilisation Programme.
  • To look and liaise with fosterers when there are animals to be fostered, ensuring the smooth running of the SPCA Foster Programme.
  • Any other duties or assignments as instructed by Management.

Requirements:

  • Ability to coordinate and work with various partners and people of different backgrounds
  • Physically fit
  • Competent in common computer software.
  • Experience in data entry and database management an advantage
  • Comfortable in the presence of animals

ANIMAL CARE OFFICER (ACO)

We are looking for a highly independent and dynamic individual for the post of  Animal Care Officer. 

Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the care, treatment and overall well-being of animals.
  • Routine duties include cleaning/washing of cages/kennels, feeding, medicating, bathing and taking care of the needs of the animals
  • To assist with animal rescue calls when required

Requirements:

  • Minimum ‘N’ Levels
  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Good communication and written skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Physically fit
  • Experience in handling animals an advantage
  • 5-day work week (8am – 5pm) but must be able to work weekends

VETERINARIAN

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is looking for junior and senior veterinarians to join our community animal clinic. The SPCA’s clinic is unique, as it is a not-for-profit clinic serving needy animals in Singapore. These include street dogs and cats, abused and rescued animals, shelter animals and, eventually, pets from low income households.

As part of the clinic team, you will be responsible for the provision of the highest standards of veterinary medicine and care. As our clinic is currently expanding, you will be instrumental in helping us grow and develop into a full-fledged community animal clinic. You will also be involved with community health programmes that make a direct and positive impact on the lives of animals and their human caregivers.

Key duties

  • Fulfil our mission to provide quality veterinary medicine to needy animals
  • General clinical duties including consultations and surgeries
  • Oversee the health and welfare of all animals in the clinic and shelter
  • Monitor clinic and shelter disease control measures
  • Be actively involved with the strategic development, planning and delivery of enhanced veterinary capabilities and impactful community health programmes
  • Assist with developing and running a training programme for veterinary personnel

Requirements

  • Passion for animal welfare and strong interest in shelter medicine
  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine recognised by the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) (https://www.ava.gov.sg/explore-by-sections/pets-and-animals/animal-health-veterinarians/veterinary-licensing)
  • At least one year of small animal clinical experience for junior veterinarian applicants and seven years for senior veterinarian applicants
  • Experience and qualifications in shelter medicine preferred
  • Experience performing a range of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries required for senior veterinarian applicants
  • Mature and personable with excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and interact at all levels
  • Able to work shifts, including on weekends
