ANIMAL SUPPORT OFFICER (NIGHT - PART TIME)

We are seeking friendly and cheerful individuals who can manage calls and over the counter enquiries efficiently. Your working hours will be from 5 to 10 pm for four days a week You will play an important role to ensure SPCA’s timely response to emergency calls and cruelty cases.

Join our animal welfare team to start making a difference.

Main responsibilities:

  • Receive, screen and facilitate distribution of cases received via the phone
  • General administrative duties at the reception counter
  • Handle general enquiries from members of the public over the phone or in person
  • In charge of after-hours security of premise
  • Basic animal care work when required

Requirements:

  • Able to exhibit professional and friendly customer service over the phone and in person
  • Comfortable handling animals
  • Able to work from 5pm to 10 pm for four days a week

LOCUM VETERINARIAN

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)’s clinic is looking for locum vets.

The SPCA’s clinic is unique, as it is a not-for-profit clinic serving needy animals in Singapore. These include street dogs and cats, abused and rescued animals, shelter animals and pets from low income households.

Key duties

  • General clinical duties including consultations and surgeries

Requirements

  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine recognised by the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) with at least one to two years of small animal clinical experience
  • Possess work rights in Singapore

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is looking for veterinary assistants to join our community animal clinic. The SPCA’s clinic is unique, as it is a not-for-profit clinic serving needy animals in Singapore. These include street dogs and cats, abused and rescued animals, shelter animals and, eventually, pets from low income households.

As part of the clinic team, you will be responsible for the provision of the highest standards of veterinary medicine and care.

Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the care, treatment and overall well-being of animals
  • To assist the duty Veterinarian with consultations, treatments and surgeries
  • Maintain diagnostic equipment, sterilisation of surgical instrument and general cleanliness of the clinic
  • Maintain records, and write and file reports

Requirements:

  • Minimum Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent 
  • At least 3 year(s) of working experience in a veterinary clinic
  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A team player
  • Able to work weekends

CLINIC MANAGER

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is looking for a dynamic and committed individual to join our community animal clinic. The SPCA’s clinic is unique, as it is a not-for-profit clinic serving needy animals in Singapore. These include street dogs and cats, abused and rescued animals, shelter animals and, eventually, pets from low income households. 

As the Clinic Manager, you will oversee and facilitate the smooth daily operations of the clinic, ensure the delivery of high quality veterinary medicine, promote high standards of animal welfare and provide excellent service to our clients. You will be well placed to make a difference for the animals, whilst leading and inspiring a team to perform at their best. As our clinic is currently expanding, you will be instrumental in helping us grow and develop into a full-fledged community animal clinic. You will also be involved with community health programmes that make a direct and positive impact on the lives of animals and their human caregivers.

Key responsibilities

Leading

  • Lead and support the clinic team to fulfil our mission to provide quality veterinary medicine to needy animals
  • Actively work to maintain high standards of veterinary medicine and animal care
  • Be actively involved with the strategic development, planning and delivery of enhanced veterinary capabilities and impactful community health programmes
  • Develop a positive working environment and contribute to a learning culture

Managing operations

  • Smoothly running day to day clinic operations
  • Oversee and manage clinic accounts, stock and maintenance of equipment
  • Able to perform and provide cover for clinic receptionists and veterinary assistants when required
  • Establish good relations with all clinic stakeholders and provide excellent customer service
  • Ensure all clinic related regulations and codes are complied with

Requirements

  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Degree in any discipline
  • At least three years of management experience, preferably in a veterinary or animal related environment
  • Animal handling and veterinary assistant experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, be meticulous and meet deadlines consistently
  • Mature and personable with excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and interact at all levels
  • Able to work shifts, including on weekends

As our clinic is currently expanding, you will be instrumental in helping us grow and develop into a full-fledged community animal clinic. You will also be involved with community health programmes that make a direct and positive impact on the lives of animals and their human caregivers.

Key responsibilities

Veterinary duties

  • Lead and support the clinic team to fulfil our mission to provide quality veterinary medicine to needy animals
  • General clinical duties including consultations and surgeries
  • Implement and oversee clinic and shelter disease control measures
  • Oversee the health and welfare of all animals in the clinic and shelter

Administrative duties

  • Ensure that all clinical records are appropriately documented and stored
  • Ensure all clinic related regulations and codes are complied with
  • Develop and implement a training programme for veterinary personnel

Requirements

  • Passion for animal welfare and strong interest in shelter medicine
  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine recognised by the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) (https://www.ava.gov.sg/explore-by-sections/pets-and-animals/animal-health-veterinarians/veterinary-licensing)
  • At least seven years of small animal clinical experience
  • Experience and qualifications in shelter medicine preferred
  • Experience performing a range of soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries

  • Able to work shifts, including on weekends

ASO (NIGHT ANIMAL SUPPORT OFFICER)

Responsibilities, as an Animal Support Officer:

  • Receive, screen and facilitate distribution and receipt of calls
  • General administrative duties at the reception counter
  • Handle general enquiries from members of the public over the phone or in person
  • In charge of after-hours security of premise

Requirements:

  • Bilingual
  • GCE 'N' or 'O' level
  • Able to exhibit professional and friendly customer service over the phone and in person
  • Be able to work rotating shifts (5pm to 10pm and 10pm to 8am) (including weekend and public holidays)
  • 5 days’ work week
  • Singaporean/ PR only
  • Training will be provided
